Hey everyone, I thought i should share some Tips to help keep your Dogs and Cats stay healthy. Iv worked at an animal hospital since i was seven, my mother worked their and she would make me tag along and help her, when i got old enough to work, i worked their until i had my son. My mother has worked their for about 17 years now.
most of you all know not to feed your cats and dogs, mainly your dogs chocolate. but do you know why you shouldn't feed your animals chocolate, it causes them major diarrhea and seizures.( please read more about it below)here are a few table scraps your should NEVER feed them

• CHOCOLATE (including cocoa),COFFEE,TEA AND OTHER CAFFEINE-theobromine, or theophylline, which can be toxic and affect the heart and nervous systems. vomiting, rapid or irregular heart beat, increased urination, muscle tremors, seizures and death which can occur within 24 hours after consumption. Dark chocolate is more potent than milk chocolate.
• PORK-upset stomach which causes diarrhea
• GRAPES & RAISINS-Contain an unknown toxin which causes kidney failure (have been no problems associated with grape seed extract.)
• ONIONS/BABY FOOD (contain onion powder),
• GARLIC -liver damage/Contain sulfoxides and disulfides, which can damage red blood cells and cause anemia. Cats are more susceptible than dogs. Garlic is less toxic than onions.even in tiny amounts above their toxic level can cause anemia via destruction of red blood cells. Symptoms of anemia include blood in urine, lethargy, decreased appetite, rapid heart beat, depression, pale mucous membranes
• ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES-Can cause intoxication, coma, and death
• BONES FROM FISH,POULTRY, OR OTHER MEAT SOURCES-cause obstruction or laceration of the digestive system. is potential choking hazard as well as internal organ damage as cooked bones splinter easily. Signs of choking include gasping, blue gums, face pawing, drooling, breathing difficulties and loss of consciousness.
• CAT FOOD-too high in protein and fats which cause metabolic imbalance which upsets stomach and diarrhea
• CITRUS OIL EXTRATS-cause vomiting
• FAT TRIMMINGS (SUCH AS ON MEATS)-cause pancreatitis
• HUMAN VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS CONTAINING IRON-damages the lining of the digestive system and toxic to the other organs including the liver and kidneys. Always acquire vet's approval before giving your cat any over-the-counter supplement or medication.
• MACADAMIA NUTS-unknown toxin which affects the digestive and nervous systems and muscle.
• MARIJUANA-depress the nervous system, cause vomiting, and changes in the heart rate
• MILK & DAIRY-Some adult dogs and cats do not have sufficient amounts of the enzyme lactose, which breaks down the lactose in milk. This can result in diarrhea. Lactose-free milk products are available for pets.
• YEAST DOUGH-expand and produce gas in the digestive system, causing pain and possible rupture of the stomach or intestines.
• MUSHROOMS-contain toxins, which may affect multiple systems in the body, cause shock, and result in death.
• PITS FROM PEACHES & PLUMS-cause obstruction of the digestive tract. also can lodge in throat or digestive tract
• POTATO,TOMATOS, & POTATO/TOMATO STEMS, AND RHUBARB- Contain oxalates which affect the digestive, nervous, and urinary systems. This is more of a problem in livestock. May cause heart disturbances.
• RAW EGGS-Contain an enzyme called avidin, which decreases the absorption of biotin a B vitamin. This can lead to skin and hair coat problems. Raw eggs may also contain Salmonella.
• RAW FISH-a thiamine a B vitamin deficiency leading to loss of appetite, seizures, and in severe cases, death. More common if raw fish is fed regularly.
• STRING-Can become trapped in the digestive system called a "string foreign body."
• SUGARY FOODS-lead to obesity, dental problems, and possibly diabetes mellitus.
• TOBACCO-Contains nicotine, which affects the digestive and nervous systems. Can result in rapid heart beat, collapse, coma, and death
• LIZARD-causes cats to get liver shunt
• AVOCADO-cause fluid retention and respiratory difficulties.
• NUTMEG - May cause muscle tremors,seizures and death. As a note, nutmeg can also be fatal to humans.
• FRUIT SEEDS-May lodge in throat or digestive tract
• TUNA - Consult vet due to mercury content dangers.
• FROGS SUCH AS TOADS-poisonous to dogs - If your dog gets a hold of a toad or a frog, immediately use a hoes and hoes their mouth out for about a min, than immediately take them to a Animal hospital they will give them black chalk to make them throw up. they will most likely keep the over night.

GRASS-Dogs commonly eat grass, and there are several Reason why...wild wolves and Foxes eat many plant eating animals, they end up eating lots of grasses and plants that were in the intestines of these animals. Dogs then, may eat grass because, its normal part of their diet. If your dogs eat grass on a regular basis, this could suggest dietary imbalance. you may need to talk to a vet and change of diet.
